New Scouts usually join in the Spring of the fifth grade, which allows them time to participate in a weekend camping program before their first long term summer camping experience.

Steps to join Troop 117:

1. Apply to join: print and fill out this application

2. Fill out a health form

3. Pay the current dues to our Treasurer by cash, check or Venmo @troop117bp.  We don't want the cost of Scouting to ever prevent a boy from joining or participating in Troop 117. Please see the Scoutmaster or the Treasurer if you or someone you know would benefit from financial assistance.

4. Purchase a Scout uniform. See our Uniform Guide. We provide a Troop 117 patch so there's no need for you to purchase that.

5. Obtain a Scout Handbook, neckerchief and uniform patch from the Advancement Coordinator at a Troop Meeting. Don't buy these yourself; your joining fee covers the cost of these items.

Camping (the Forest is our classroom):

The Troop usually has two long term camping experiences every summer and 7 to 9 weekend camping trips through the course of the year.
